Video: Man, daughter attacked by Kerala transport workers

Thiruvananthapuram:

A group of employees of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) on Tuesday thrashed a man and his daughter at a local bus depot near here following a dispute over students’ concession.

In an purported scene captured in a mobile phone and broadcast by local TV channels, the father and his college-going daughter were dragged into a room, dragged into a room, and thrashed by staff.

In the video, the girl can be seen questioning the assault by the employees and another man can be heard asking the employees not to beat up.

He said that a minor argument with KSRTC employees at the depot led to the attack.

“I went with my daughter to the depot to renew her students’ concession. The staff at the counter asked us to bring the course certificate. I told them it was already deposited during the renewal of the bus-pass last month. was given,” said the man.

But, the employees were not ready to renew the concession and the argument resulted in an attack.

As the controversy started over the issue, Transport Minister Antony Raju intervened and sought an immediate report of the incident from the Managing Director of KSRTC.

The minister said that though it was an isolated incident, the assault on a person who reached the office, which brought humiliation to KSRTC, cannot be accepted at any cost.
