Video: Mumbai train driver applies emergency brake to save a man’s life

A man was filmed lying on a railway track in Mumbai

A video shared by the Ministry of Railways shows how an alert train driver applied emergency brakes in time to save the life of a man lying on the track. The video was filmed at Sewri station on the Harbor Line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway network. The 50-second clip begins with a man wandering on a railway track. As the train approached, he suddenly lay down on the track.

Within a few seconds, we can see that the train slowed down and then came to a complete halt as the loco pilot applied the emergency brakes. Soon, three Railway Police personnel could be seen running up to the man and escorting him to a safe place. It is clear from the time stamp on the video that the incident happened on January 2 at around 11.45 am.

In the tweet, the Ministry of Railways lauded the “work done by the motorman”, and said, “At Sewri station in Mumbai, the motorman saw a man lying on the track, saved the person’s life by applying the emergency brake. Readiness and understanding With you. Your life is priceless, someone is waiting for you at home.”

The clip has been viewed over 93,000 times. More than 5,700 users liked it, with many praising Train Driver.

One user saluted the “motorman for saving the lives of the entire family”, who might have depended on this man.

Another felt that the name of the motorman should be taken in the tweet. The user wrote, ‘Please name the heroes. They deserve it.”

Some even said that the Railways should reward such motorists.

There were others who felt that equal praise should be given to the Railway Police personnel who rushed to the rescue of the man.
