Video: UK workers spray orange paint on Harrods showroom in London

Protesters at Just Stop Oil spray orange paint at a Harrods showroom in central London on Thursday. The incident marks the group’s 20th consecutive action against new oil and gas. A video shared on Just Stop Oil’s Twitter shows two protesters spraying orange paint on the windows of a luxury department store.

The shop windows were completely covered with orange paint. The video, posted on Thursday, has garnered over 8,000 views on Twitter.

The activists also staged a sit-in with banners at Knightsbridge. According to Standard.co.ukSome of the workers stuck themselves to the road and locked themselves together.

A series of videos shared on Twitter further shows agitators who, led by security staff, sprayed shop windows. In another video, passers-by and officers are seen pulling protesters off the road while they refused to budge.

Just Stop Oil’s tweet read, “BREAKING: Harrods spray paint and Knightsbridge closed at 9am this morning, 20 Just Stop Oil supporters demanding an end to new oil and gas blocking traffic at Knightsbridge in central London . Two have also sprayed outside Harrods. Department store with orange paint.”

As Standard.co.uk reports, the Metropolitan Police later confirmed that 17 people were arrested on suspicion of intentionally obstructing the highway on Brompton Road, with two also on suspicion of causing criminal damage .

After being detained by the police, the road was opened in both the directions till noon.
