A dog from Louisiana, US has officially claimed the record for the longest tongue on a living dog. Guinness World Records said its tongue, longer than a soda can, is 12.7 cm long.
Zoey, a Labrador/German Shepherd mix, was awarded the record for longest tongue on a living dog when a veterinarian measured from the tip of her muzzle to the tip of her tongue. The previous record was held by Bisbee, whose tongue was estimated at 9.49 cm.

Her owners, Sadie and Drew Williams, got her when she was six weeks old. As a puppy, Zoey’s tongue often popped out of her mouth. The owners thought she would grow into it but as time went on people started commenting on how long her tongue was.
Mrs Williams told Guinness World Records: “We found Zoey when she was only six weeks old and the first picture we have of her is with her tongue out.”

There will be sloganeering everywhere. So last year we took her to the vet and got her tongue measured,” Mr Williams said.
Zoey loves being outside, fetching balls, chasing squirrels, car rides, and swimming in the canal. But, he hates to take a bath.
The couple noted that Zoey is popular among the neighbors.
”Sometimes when we’re taking her for walks, people come up to her and want to pet her. We’d warn them ahead of time ‘Hey, she’s friendly, but she might slog at you,’ and every now and then she will, and she’ll have a big slog on her black pants,'” Drew Williams said.
