Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Sri Raghavendra Swamy Math in Mantralayam, Andhra Pradesh during his India Jodi Yatra on Thursday. Photos of the leader’s visit have been widely shared on the internet. The foot march that began in Kanyakumari on September 7 will end in Kashmir, covering a distance of about 3,570 km.

In the pictures, Rahul Gandhi, dressed in a white traditional dress, is offering prayers at the temple.

“Shri Rahul Gandhi offered prayers at Sri Raghavendra Swamy Math followed by a brief meeting with Sri Subudhendra Tirtha ji at Mantralayam,” read the text attached to the tweet.

Rahul Gandhi and his passengers were welcomed by a huge crowd in Andhra Pradesh. Mr Gandhi, through his official Twitter handle, posted a video thanking the people of Andhra Pradesh for their support.

“Grateful to the people of Andhra Pradesh for the overwhelming response to the visit. The bond of love I felt with the people here is deep and strong. Congress will avenge this love with hard work. We will fulfill the promises made to the people of Andhra Pradesh,” Mr Gandhi wrote.

Bharat Jodi Yatra will pass through 12 states and two union territories. Rahul Gandhi, along with other workers, is covering a distance of about 20 kilometers a day with an aim to reach Kashmir in five months.
