Since childhood, we all have heard the popular saying that “practice makes a man perfect”. To achieve something in a particular field or subject, one needs to practice regularly with full commitment. A vivid example of this is a beatboxer who shared a video on Instagram showing what 15 years of practice can achieve. Beatboxing is a musical technique in which performers use their mouth and tongue to create or imitate sounds like drums, percussion or other musical instruments. And it’s not that easy. It takes a lot of time and constant effort for our body to get used to it and perfect each sound.
In an Instagram video shared by a page called dertvardir, the artist stands in front of a mirror and shows off his gradual but mind-boggling 15 years of progress. From one day to a month, until finally 15 years, he shows how he feels at each stage. Although he sounds a bit amateurish in the beginning, he perfectly perfects each note and sound at the end of the video. The artist has been identified as D-Lo, a world champion beatboxer and vocal producer.

Notably, the video went viral on TikTok a year ago, and has now resurfaced on other social media platforms. The video has garnered over 3.5 lakh likes and several comments since it was shared on Instagram on October 18. The comments section is full of encouraging comments praising the artist’s ingenious skill and craft. Many were blown away by his hard work that would have gone into perfecting beatboxing. One user reacted to the video and wrote, “When I listened on the first day I already knew it was going to burn.” Another commented, “Bros is distracting himself.” A third user lamented, “I think beat boxing. One of the best things. But where does one get beatboxing school? Like welcome to the school of beatboxing.”
D-Lo, whose real name is Dan Lowes, is a 26-year-old English beatboxer who was inspired to start beatboxing after watching British multi-singer Beardieman perform. Lowes, who has been making music since the age of 12, is currently a multiple-time UK Beatbox Champion and Grand Beatbox Battle Champion.
