A video of an SUV colliding with sloganeering farmers in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri over the weekend has surfaced on social media. eight people, including Four farmers died in this incident.

In the 25-second video clip, one can see farmers falling to the ground as soon as they hit the vehicle, while others scramble to get out of the way. Another vehicle, sounding a siren, is pulling back the SUV that hit the farmers.

The video matches the description given to NDTV by farmers on the spot on Sunday, who said the vehicle hit them from behind and caught them inadvertently. The make and color of the lead SUV that woos farmers in the video matches with other scenes on the site as well.

On Sunday, a group of farmers protesting in Tikoniya area of ​​Kheri tried to stop Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya from entering. The protesters were upset by Mr. Mishra’s recent speech.

The farmers claimed that the violence broke out after a car of the minister’s convoy rammed into the protesters. Scenes from the area showed arson and vehicles being torched. They allege that the car was driven by the Union minister’s son Ashish.

A case of murder has been registered against the son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra.

Minister Ajay Mishra says that he is not aware of any FIR against his son. He has also denied that his son had any connection with the violence. Junior Home Minister Mishra said, “My son was not present at the spot. Some miscreants attacked the workers with sticks and swords. Had my son been there, he would not have come out alive.” by news agency ANI. “My son (of the deputy chief minister) was present at the venue… I was with the deputy chief minister the whole time,” he said.

The government has promised a compensation of Rs 45 lakh to the families of those who died. A compensation of Rs 10 lakh will be given to the injured. A retired judge will investigate the matter, the state government has said.
