The London Fire Brigade (LFB) were called to a blaze at a house in Harlesden, Brent, over the weekend, the BBC reported. The scooter’s owner, who was home at the time, said he was “grateful to be alive” after the fire broke out.
The LFB said 48 e-bikes and 12 e-scooters caught fire in the capital so far this year. Dale Williams, the scooter’s owner, said he bought it two weeks ago from online marketplace Gumtree to help him get around London.
“I just want to thank God we managed to get out of there in one piece! I’m so grateful to be alive. I spent eight hours in the hospital due to smoke from the fire, and when I got back home , It was such an eye-opener. I was shocked, and I am shocked now. I am so grateful that no one else was hurt. I cheated death,” Mr. Williams said.
