Virat Kohli told the reason for leaving T20, the captaincy of RCB

India batsman Virat Kohli has said that there is nothing to be surprised by his relinquishing the captaincy as he does not catch things excessively.

Kohli first stood down as India’s T20I captain last year and was then removed from the post of ODI captain. And earlier this year, Kohli also stood down as India’s Test captain.

The batsman also decided to step down from the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captaincy last year and the franchise will have a new leader from this season.

“I’m not someone who holds onto things more than I should. Even if I know I can get through a lot, if I’m not going to enjoy the process, I’m not going to do it. Because it’s so hard for people to understand their decisions unless they’re in your position. From the outside, people have their own expectations of ‘Oh! How did it happen? We’re very Surprised’,” Kohli said on the RCB podcast.

“It’s nothing to be shocked. I explain to people, I needed some space and wanted to manage my workload and the story ends there. Nothing really was there. I live my life.” Keep it very simple and basic, when I wanted to make a decision, I made a decision and I announced it.”

Talking further about his decision, Kohli said: “I didn’t want to think about it and consider it for another year. It doesn’t do me anything, nothing for that environment. Which I am a part of. Quality of life is very important to me. And quality of cricket is very important to me.”

“Over time, you want to keep doing what you are doing day in and day out and do as much as you can, but at the end of the day, you have to realize that quality is much more important than quantity. . Hard work in quantity, quality in execution,” he said.

Kohli has not scored a century since November 2019. His last century in international cricket came in the Day-Night Test against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens.

The batsman will next be seen in action in the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, and will also play his 100th Test in that series.
