Tourism Minister M. Srinivasa Rao and District Collector A. Mallikarjuna flagged off 67 “YSR Thalli Bidda Express Vehicles” near the TU-142 museum on Beach Road here on Saturday. The vehicles reached the city from Vijayawada after being flagged off by Chief Minister Y,S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday morning.
Speaking on the occasion, Srinivasa Rao said that the launch of ‘Thalli Bidda’ vehicles proves the priority given by the State Government to the Health Department. He said that after delivery these air-conditioned vehicles would be used to safely drop the woman, her newborn babies and her parents from government hospitals to their residences.
Srinivasa Rao said that out of 67 vehicles sanctioned to the district, nine would be approved for King George Hospital, eight for Victoria Hospital. While three vehicles will be allotted to Paderu Government Hospital, five each will be allotted to Anakapalle and Narsipatnam hospitals. Two vehicles will be given to Araku and three to Aganampudi. Other remaining vehicles will be distributed to Community Health Centers (CHCs) on need basis.
Mayor G. Hari Venkata Kumari, Gajuwaka MLA T. Nagareddy and District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) K. Vijaya Lakshmi was present.
