Vivo Tech Day 2022 roundup: From 5G to gimbal stabilization, more

Vivo held its first Tech Day in New Delhi this week where it showcased some of its achievements in 5G, design and hardware. The Chinese smartphone maker detailed its contribution to 5G standards in 3GPP and demonstrated technologies that help improve battery life and bring multi-SIM 5G to smartphones. It also showcased the V1+ chip it developed to improve nighttime photos and videos, its color-changing rear panel, a partnership with Zeiss Optics, and more. Vivo also showcased 5G cloud gaming in partnership with Reliance Jio.

during this 5G performance, Vivo said it holds about 4,000 5G patents and has made more than 8,000 submissions for 5G 3GPP standards. It states that all 5G smartphones made by it are also NSA network compatible. The Chinese phone maker has also taken note of some of its solutions to improve power efficiency on 5G phones. It talked about Doze mode that helps reduce power usage, and a multi-SIM capability sync standard to address dual 5G SIM issues. Lastly, it also showed how it has used PCBA 3D stacking and vapor cooling techniques to keep its phone slim as well as manage thermals.

Vivo also gave us a glimpse of 5G cloud gaming in partnership with Reliance Jio, The company demonstrated it on its Vivo X70 Pro+ Smartphone and used Jio True 5G network as well as JioGames Now cloud gaming service. We were shown the desktop-grade game running smoothly without any lag on the phone and other connected devices.

V1+ chip, Zeiss Partnership

Subsequently, Vivo showed us its self-developed V1+ chip for better imaging and night photography. Vivo X80 The series was used to show us the Super Night video mode, Super cool gimbal stabilization, and Horizon level stabilization, which keeps the horizon level even when you’re rotating the phone.

Vivo uses Zeiss T* anti-reflective coating on its high-end camera lenses to get rid of glare by reducing reflections and providing sharp images. The coating improves visible light transmission and reproduces colors better. This partnership helped Vivo gain access to exclusive Zeiss Portrait features like the Biotar Bokeh Style, which allows DSLR-like bokeh effects.

A new color-changing rear glass design developed by Vivo

Recently Vivo Unveiled v23 Series with a color-changing rear panel. At Vivo Tech Day, it demonstrated technology that uses photochromatic materials that can change color when exposed to UV rays or sunlight. It also showcased some of its new dual color changing rear panel designs that are yet to hit the market.
