‘VR Not Trash Bin’: Allahabad HC Bar Association on Justice Yashwant Verma Transfer

New Delhi: The Supreme Court collegium proposal to transfer Justice Yashwant Verma of the Delhi High Court to the Allahabad High Court, after the alleged cash found from his residence, has not gone well with the Allahabad High Court Bar Association.

A notice issued by the association on Friday stated that it was “surprised” by the proposal.

“This decision of the collegium of the Supreme Court raises a serious question whether Allahabad is the High Court [a] Thrash bin (SIC)? Emphasis on the notice marked by Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court (HC) and all HC judges.

The notice further stated that the case had given importance as the Allahabad High Court was already less than the judges, in which no new judges were appointed for many years. The association alleged that while raising the lawyers judicially, the bar was never consulted and therefore, the idea of eligibility “seems to be” mark “.

The association said, “There is a shortage of some, resulting in corruption and as a result, ‘public belief in the judiciary’ has suffered a major damage.”

It even trusted the comments made by the Supreme Court on the functioning of the court, citing its observation saying “Some Allahabad is rotten in the High Court”.

Communications said: “Currently, we are facing a lot of problems, especially [the] Lack of judges, resulting in fresh cases not being heard for months, reducing people’s confidence in the rule of law, but this does not mean that we are a thrash bin (SIC). We are not ready to accept corruption. ,

It also alleged a “conspiracy” to divide the Allahabad High Court into parts and convened an emerging General House meeting to take “appropriate decisions”, to address it. The meeting will be held on Monday at 1.15 pm.

The notice stated, “All members are requested to attend the meeting as the matter is about the existence of the judiciary.”

However, a press release on Friday by the Supreme Court made it clear that the proposal for transfer of judge is still under consideration.

“The proposal was investigated by the Chief Justice of India and on March 20, 2025 by the collegium associated with four senior judges of the Supreme Court, and then letters were written to the Supreme Court consultant judges, which were obtained by Chief Justice of High Courts and Mr. Justice Yashwant Verma.
