Elon Musk’s satellite manufacturing company SpaceX has announced two job opportunities in India. SpaceX’s satellite broadband arm Starlink is — ‘Director of Rural Transformation’ and ‘Executive Assistant’ and will be employed full-time, the company’s country director Sanjay Bhargava announced in a LinkedIn post. According to Bhargava, SpaceX’s Starlink project is looking for ‘two Rockstars’ to officially join the Indian subsidiary.
The Starlink country director at SpaceX said the ‘executive’ assistant position is not a head of staff position and that the director rural change has to be technical as well.
Bhargava said, “Another small step towards catalyzing and accelerating change starting from rural India. As and when there are other open positions they will show up on job boards. Until we are licensed commercially Till then, I have no more hope.”
Recently, Bhargava informed that Starlink is planning to explore collaborations with telecom companies in India to expand broadband services in the country with a focus on rural areas. He said that discussions with broadband service providers would start after NITI Aayog has identified 12 aspirational districts of Phase-I.
Starlink claims that it has received over 5,000 pre-orders from India. Company $99 or . is charging the deposit amount of 7,350 per subscriber and claims to deliver data speeds in the range of 50-150 megabits per second in the beta phase.
