Internet users inspired by his commitment to fitness
Over 55,000 people participated in the 18th edition of the prestigious Tata Mumbai Marathon on Sunday. Mumbaikars from all walks of life ran together for various social causes. Not only youth, children, specially abled and senior citizens also actively participated in the marathon. One such participant who stole the show was an 80-year-old woman who stunned everyone by running in a marathon.
Granddaughter of the elderly woman, Dimple Mehta Fernandes shared a video of her participating in the marathon on Instagram. In the video, an 80-year-old woman named Bharti can be seen running a marathon comfortably in a saree and a pair of sneakers, holding the tricolor in her hand. It covered a distance of 4.2 km in 51 minutes.
The video was captioned as, “So inspired by the determination and grit of my 80 year old Nani who participated in the Tata Marathon this Sunday.”

The clip also contains an interview snippet of the woman in which she said that she had been practicing for the marathon every day, and this is the fifth time she is participating in the event. When asked why she raised the tricolor during the race, she replied that she was proud to be an Indian and wanted people to know about her national identity. The elderly woman also advised the youth to move more for better health.
Internet users who watched the video were inspired by her commitment to fitness and appreciated her energy and enthusiasm. A user said, “Age is just a number..Age is a number!!” Another commented, “What a star.” It’s inspiring,” said a third.
The Tata Mumbai Marathon is an annual event that is held every year on the third Sunday of January. This was the first time the event took place after a break of two years due to COVID-19 restrictions
