A leader of the Yuvajana Shramik Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) stepped into an overflowing sewer in Nellore on Tuesday as a mark of protest by civic authorities for the delay in the long-pending cleaning and maintenance of the drainage system .
The ruling party’s MLA Kotamareddy Sridhar Reddy, Umma Reddy sat by the side of the drain in Gunta, his feet submerged in open sewage, expressing his displeasure over the apathy of the local administration towards the drainage problem.

Expressing his dismay, Mr Reddy said that despite several requests to the authorities to clear it, he did not listen to them.
He urged the officials to draft a reasonable time frame for completing the work and give it in writing.
He said that if they fail to clean it, he will come again and sit here.
