After weeks of scorching heat, Hyderabad received heavy rains accompanied by strong winds and lightning in the early hours of Wednesday. Though there has been respite from the scorching heat across Telangana, many low-lying areas of the city were inundated due to rain.
Videos circulating online show heavily waterlogged roads in Hyderabad. In one video, people were seen pedaling in a rubber boat on a waterlogged road.

There have also been reports of water logging from Kala Patthar and Yakutpura districts of the city. Trees were uprooted in Nallakunta, causing damage to some property as well as blocking of roads.
A newly constructed road to the Yadadri temple in Telangana also collapsed, halting the progress of buses going to the temple. As a result, the pilgrims on board were forced to take a detour and go through rocky roads. The state-run Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), along with its extensive network of automated weather stations, recorded 108 mm of rain in Telangana’s Siddhapur district till 6 am. In Hyderabad, Sitaphalmandi near Secunderabad received 72.8 mm of rain at 6 am, while Bansilalpet received 67 mm and West Marredpally 61.8 mm.
