New Delhi:
A video of a man shaking a snake crossing a road with his bare hands has grabbed Twitter’s attention. In the clip uploaded on Twitter by Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Parveen Kaswan, the man can be seen getting down from a vehicle and casually walking towards the snake.
He then picks up the snake by its tail and leads it into the forest, as in the background people can be heard shouting and advising him against it. Moments later, the snake makes its way into the forest.
According to Mr. Kaswan, the incident took place in South India. “Your views on this. Going to wildlife habitat and getting disturbed or saved from road accident. The video is of habitually important wildlife in South India,” the official wrote in the caption.

The dragon moves slowly, so a frustrated spirit would have knocked it down under his vehicle. pic.twitter.com/ui3exp8af7

I think there are better ways to get a snake off the road without handling it. I think his intentions are commendable, although most people just drive and take photos..

Unfortunately the road is crossing wildlife.
So to save them we had to disturb it.It’s a choice between the slightly worse (disturbing) and the worst (accidental death).

I think it would be better to turn off your headlights and wait for the snake to pass. This happened to me once and we were just waiting for the snake to pass. Not all roads near or inside forest divisions have night time restrictions, so this is a common occurrence.
