Ajmer Sharif’s cleric Adil Chishti, who was seen making fun of Hindu deities and Hinduism in a video on June 23, has now apologized for it. Adil Chishti now says that he was only replying to Nupur Sharma’s comment, and had no intention of mocking Hinduism. He also claims that he has demanded capital punishment for the killers of Kanhaiya Lal. Significantly, Adil Chishti is the third cleric of Ajmer Dargah, who was found making objectionable remarks against Hinduism or threatening Hindus. A Maulvi Syed Salman Chishti is in jail for threatening Nupur Sharma. Another cleric Gohar Chishti is absconding after raising provocative slogans in a video.
