A video of an elephant getting excited just before a newly wedded couple had darshan at Kerala’s Guruvayur temple is going viral on social media. The video has been posted by photographer Wedding Mojito on Instagram. The clip has been liked by over 1,200 users since it was posted seven days ago.

In the video, the newlyweds are seen reaching the inner courtyard of the temple for a photoshoot. The elephant was standing right behind them.

As soon as the cameraman started clicking the photo of the bride and groom, the elephant became aggressive and attacked a mahout.

The elephant tried to lift the man with its trunk, but he fell down. The man quickly got up and ran away, but his clothes were in the clutches of the elephant. The second mahout sitting on top of the elephant was able to control it.

The groom recalled the incident and narrated his experience in the video. “We were posing for a picture and all of a sudden, everyone started screaming. She grabbed my hand and ran,” the man said.

Guruvayur Temple is very popular for Hindu marriage rituals.

A few months back, a man was trampled to death by wild elephants in a forest area in Kerala’s Kollam. Police said a man in his 50s was allegedly attacked by a group of three elephants while he was walking on a road passing through a dense forest.
