The pied ball python is a unique color morph of the standard ball python.
A New Jersey resident was shocked when he found a snake hiding behind the refrigerator in his apartment. He immediately called snake rescuers who took the snake to an animal shelter called the Liberty Humane Society, where it was identified as a piebald ball python. Also known as pied ball pythons, they are brown or orange colored snakes with large white spots and stripes of unpigmented skin.
The humane society said in a Facebook post that rescuers found the snake, named ‘Banana’, on the 29th floor of an apartment in the Newport district. Rescuers are now trying to trace the owner of the snake. Interestingly, ball pythons are one of the most popular reptiles kept as pets in the US, and the piebald morph is one of the most prized varieties.
In a Facebook post, the Liberty Humane Society shared a video of the snake and wrote, ‘Banana’, this beautiful piebald ball python morph, poses no threat, but we guess some people are wondering what an emergency the snake is.” Might sound like it! “Banana” came to LHS today after a resident found them behind her refrigerator, panicked, and someone called JCPD. Did we mention his apartment was on the 29th floor in the Newport district?”

The post further reads, “This is a social, domestic snake and possibly someone’s pet that has escaped. Please contact the shelter if you have any information on where “Banana” belongs.
Rescue workers said that if no owner is identified within 7 days, the snake will be put up for adoption.
