Visitors to the park were left hanging upside down after the giant pendulum ride broke down.
Amusement parks are fun places where people enjoy and seek adventure. But for some people, the idea of riding up and down a fast-paced, whirling track can be terrifying. The rides at these parks are known for turning one’s stomach into a pulp and for producing insane acceleration and g-forces. However, the feeling can be even worse if one finds that their ride is stuck in mid-air. The screams of excitement and enthusiasm suddenly become the screams of fear of life.
Recently, a group of visitors to an amusement park in the city of Fuyang in China’s Anhui province experienced a fright of a different kind — with the giant pendulum ride lying motionless for nearly 10 minutes.
On January 19, visitors to the park were left hanging upside down after the giant pendulum ride broke down.
Video of the incident has been released by Viral Press and distributed by AP.
The workers and staff present at this Chinese amusement park tried to fix the giant pendulum ride but failed. They were unable to restart the control panel. After several attempts, officials decided to manually fix the ride by climbing onto poles on the ride.
Park officials said the swing caused problems because it exceeded the weight limit with the number of people on it.
Fortunately, officials managed to fix the ride and had it operational within 10 minutes. Amusement park officials also issued refunds to affected tourists and offered to help with medical expenses for trauma caused by the ride’s failure.
