Watch: Viewers stunned by this rare cloud formation over Argentina

An overcast sky recently astonished some residents of Argentina with its strangeness and sheer beauty. A viral video shows a cloud-covered sky that looks like a cotton ball hanging in the air. These unusual types of clouds are known as Mammatus clouds. They took place on November 13, 2021 in Casa Grande, Cordoba.

Mammatus cloud refers to distinctive cloud formations that are separated by a group of protrusions or bulges protruding from the base of another cloud. These clouds usually form at the base of large cumulonimbus clouds and are associated with thunderstorms. The presence of mematous clouds often indicates the arrival of heavy rain, lightning and even hail.

The clip was uploaded to YouTube with a caption that read, “Late Saturday afternoon the sky was covered with these unusual clouds, which made us feel like we were trapped in a fishing house, then struck by lightning. There was a strong storm with gusty winds and hail. We were lucky to be there to capture this strange phenomenon, which could be a product of weather manipulation.”

The spectators were stunned to see such a beautiful sight. One user commented, “Those are the most beautiful clouds I’ve ever seen.” Some called them “Marshmallow Clouds”.

One user jokingly wrote, “Wait? So you’re telling me it’s not cotton and you didn’t shorten yourself to fit in that little jungle?”

“It’s so weird, I’d stare at it all day if I could,” read one of the responses.

This person wrote, ‘Looks like it could be from another planet.

One avid cloud watcher said, “These and aspartus clouds give me heebie gb.”

One user couldn’t help but write, “This is beautiful. We really live in heaven.”

The unusual cloud formation often stuns onlookers. Once, A photo of wave-shaped clouds broke the internet, These clouds appeared over Lake Smith Mountain in Virginia. The photo shows rare clouds flying over lush green fields. One viewer explained that these types of clouds are known as Kelvin–Helmholtz clouds. The person wrote, “I sent the photos to my local news station and the meteorologist replied to me that they are very rare and not usually defined.”
