Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic returned to the winning scene as he enjoyed some family time on center court at the championship.
The Serb defeated unseeded Australian Nick Kyrgios 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7(7)-6(3) in the final on 10 July to win his fourth consecutive title at Wimbledon.
With the win, Djokovic (21) moved ahead of Roger Federer (20) in the number of Grand Slam trophies. The Serb is now only one behind Rafael Nadal (22), who holds the most major titles in men’s history.

Djokovic, who started 2022 in 20 Grand Slams alongside Federer and Nadal, suffered a major setback as he was not allowed to defend his title at the Australian Open as he was not vaccinated against Covid-19.
He was deported from Australia after a 10-day legal battle, while Federer was absent from the tournament as he continued to recover from knee surgery. It was Nadal who won the Australian Open title and surpassed the second Big Two in the number of Slams.
Nadal raised the count by winning his 14th trophy at the French Open. However, the Spaniard was ruled out of the Wimbledon semi-finals after suffering a stomach injury. Subsequently, Djokovic won his seventh Wimbledon trophy after defeating Kyrgios in the final.
The win at Wimbledon could be the Serbian’s last Grand Slam appearance this year as his chances of attending the US Open are slim.
To enter the United States, Djokovic has to be vaccinated. But the Serbian has made his stance clear, saying: “I’m not vaccinated and I don’t plan to be vaccinated, so the only good news I can have is that they remove the mandatory Green Vaccine Card.” Give or whatever you tell it to enter the United States or waiver.”
“I will wait for any good news from the USA because I would really love to go there. If it doesn’t, I’ll have to see what the schedule will look like.”
