External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar today criticized the Congress over his comments regarding the Indian Army amid the ongoing border dispute with China. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Jaishankar said he was not against political criticism by the opposition, but urged opposition leaders not to criticize army personnel. Jaishankar also said that India has been pressing China for de-escalation and disengagement on the border while openly admitting that Sino-India relations are not in good shape.
“If we were indifferent to China, why are we today pressuring China to back down and de-escalate? Why are we saying publicly that our relations are not normal? If there are political differences or political criticism We have no problem, I have ever heard that my own understanding needs to be deepened, When I see who is giving advice, I can only bow and respect. But, I think, we should not criticize our jawans directly or indirectly. Our jawans are standing. At a height of 13 thousand feet in Yangtse, guarding our border. They don’t deserve the word ‘Pitai’. Our The word ‘pitai’ should not be used for jawans. Our jawans are standing on their ground, they should be respected, they should be respected, they should be appreciated,” Jaishankar said.

Earlier today, during an India-Japan summit in New Delhi, Jaishankar said the Indian Army would not allow China to “unilaterally” change the status quo on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and its current deployment along the border was not seen before. ,
