Weekend Special: How to make Himachali Mutton Curry in less than an hour

The weekend is almost here and so is the time to relax and unwind. And food plays a major role in this. And if you are a non-vegetarian, meat is definitely on the menu; Isn’t it? If so, then we definitely have a surprise for you. guess what?! We have got a special mutton curry recipe which is delicious, spicy and can be prepared in less than an hour. It is called Chha Goshtha.

Chha Goshtha is basically a Pahari style mutton curry prepared exclusively in the state of Himachal Pradesh. This recipe is unique and includes besan, chaas etc. Wonder what gram flour has to do with it? Mutton Curry process? According to food experts, the cuisine of the hill region mainly consists of local produce and easily available ingredients. Hence, you will find that the food here is earthy, meaty and has a rustic taste. Let us take you about the recipe of Chha Goshth.

Chha Goth Recipe : How to make Himachali Mutton Curry:

To make this dish, we need mutton, buttermilk, chopped onion, gram flour, ginger-garlic paste, bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, black pepper, dry red chilli hing, coriander powder, turmeric, red chilli powder and Salt as per taste.

Now start by adding mutton, whole spices in a pressure cooker and cook for three to four whistles. Take out the mutton pieces in a plate and keep the mutton stock aside for gravy.

In another pan add oil, asafoetida, dry red chilli, ginger-garlic paste and let it cook till the raw smell goes away. Then, add onions and other dry ingredients like coriander powder, turmeric, red chili powder.

Next, add besan and mix everything together. Once done, add buttermilk and mix well. Add the remaining mutton stock as well. Check the salt and adjust accordingly.

Lastly, add the mutton and let everything cook well. And your mutton curry is ready in about 30 minutes. Serve it hot and enjoy with boiled rice.
