‘We’re Not Dead’: Cartoon Network Posts After Nostalgic Memes Go Viral

Cartoon Network announced its merger with Warner Bros. Television Group (WBTVG) on Friday, after memes depicting the death of the ’90s favorite channel for kids went viral. ‘RIP Cartoon Network’ started trending on Twitter and other social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram with a checkerboard full of images of all the favorite cartoons in color and in black and white format indicating a wall of memories.

That was the emotion of the millions of fans who grew up watching the Cartoon Network Shut Shop channel. However, later in the day, cartoon Network took to Twitter to issue a clarification saying “you’re not all dead, we’re just turning 30.”

He continued, “To our fans: We’re not going anywhere. We’ve always been and will be your home for cute, innovative cartoons. More to come soon!” Cartoon Network is home to popular cartoon shows such as Tom and Jerry, Scooby Dooby Doo, Looney Tool, Power Puff Girls, Dexter Laboratory, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Ed, Ed n Eddie and Ben 10. Popular cartoons known to every child of the 90s.

According to ABC News, Warner Bros. Television Group (WBTVG) announced that it had cut approximately 26% of its personnel for a total of 125 positions in scripted, unscripted and animation. On the other hand, Warner Bros. Television CEO Channing Dungey said the merger between Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. may have more impact than he initially planned.

Meanwhile, the latest update from Cartoon Network brought some relief to worried fans on Twitter. One of them wrote, “Don’t just wake up *bring only something that is pleasant to all, no need to kill it with perfection.” “Can you keep the old shows kids will have the classic Cartoon Network experience. Too often,” pleaded another. Someone even said, “Of course they are keeping the old shows but the new shows that are being made for CN are not made for our generation and that’s okay. Let the kids watch our beloved classic shows for the sake of tradition. Be a child without being forced.”

cartoon Network was founded by Ted Turner. It was launched in 1992 on 1 October. It is one of the oldest cartoon channels and its first original series was The Moxie Show.
