Napoli head coach Antonio Conte will continue his stay with the Serie A side after leading the Southern unit to the Italian top-flight title on the final day of the campaign in emphatic fashion.
It was initially suggested that Conte might be on the way out of the Naples-based club due to differences with owner Aurelio De Laurentiis, however, the 55-year-old opted to continue at Napoli following discussions about the side’s future.
“At the end of every season, coach and club always get together to assess the past season, to see if there is a shared vision and if there is still desire to continue towards certain goals,” Conte said.
“We have a contract, and seeing as we have a shared vision, we don’t have anything else to add. We’re moving forward because we’re serious people,” he revealed.
Napoli clinched their 4th Serie A title with a 2-0 win over Cagliari on the final day of the season to pip Inter Milan to the prestigious crown by a single point in a breakout year for former Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.
Napoli’s feat is made to look even more remarkable considering the fact that they let go of Georgian star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who made the switch to PSG midseason and were devoid of the services of star Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, who is on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray.

Napoli are also reputedly closing in on the signing of Belgian star playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, following the 33-year-old’s exit from Premier League side Manchester City after a decade-long spell. Napoli’s sporting director Giovanni Manna revealed that a deal for bringing in De Bruyne was pretty close on Thursday.
