West Bengal: Belur Math in Kolkata to remain closed for devotees, visitors

In view of the COVID restrictions imposed by the Government of West Bengal, Belur Math, the headquarters of Ramakrishna Mission, will remain closed for devotees and visitors till further notification.

“It is notified for the information of all concerned that Belur Math will remain closed for devotees and visitors till further notification. This is in pursuance of the circular issued by the Government of West Bengal on 2nd January, 2022 regarding COVID-19 pandemic. ,” read the official notification by the Belur Math officials.

In the wake of rising COVID-19 cases, the West Bengal government on Sunday decided to shut schools and other educational institutions, spas, salons, beauty parlors, zoos and amusement parks from January 3.

While briefing the media, West Bengal Chief Secretary HK Dwivedi said, “All schools, colleges, universities, spas, salons, beauty parlors, zoos and amusement parks will remain closed in the state from tomorrow.”

The government directed all government and private offices to function at 50 per cent capacity.

“All government and private offices will operate at 50 per cent capacity, all administrative meetings will be conducted through virtual mode,” Dwivedi said.

The government also informed that flights from Delhi and Mumbai to West Bengal will run only twice a week from January 5.
