West Bengal government allows 75% attendance for Eden T20I vs West Indies. Cricket News – Times of India

Kolkata: The West Bengal government on Monday allowed 75 per cent audience attendance for the three-match T20I series against West Indies at the Eden Gardens starting February 16.
According to a state government notification issued on Monday, “all indoor and outdoor sports activities will be permitted within 75 per cent of the venue’s capacity” which means a crowd attendance of around 50,000 can be expected.
The Kieron Pollard-led West Indies will play three ODIs in Ahmedabad from February 6 and then move to Kolkata for the T20 International.
“We are grateful to the Honorable Chief Minister” Mamata BanerjeeChief Secretary and Government of West Bengal Along with the announcement of the resumption of sporting activities, to allow 75 per cent capacity of spectators to return to the stadium,” cab President avishek dalmiya said in a statement.
“We think it will give a new life to the state players.”
CAB hosted a T20I match against New Zealand in November last year in a bio-secure environment with 70 per cent attendance.
Dalmiya said, “This time also CAB is confident that it will be able to successfully host three T20 Internationals against West Indies in a similar fashion.”
As per the original fixture, West Indies were to play three ODIs in Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Kolkata and three T20Is in Cuttack, Visakhapatnam, Thiruvananthapuram.
But due to rising cases of COVID-19, BCCI decided to organize white ball series at two venues in Ahmedabad and Kolkata.
The CAB is also hoping to resume local cricket tournaments as soon as possible following the COVID-19 protocols.
In fact, the CAB has taken proactive steps to vaccinate all players above the age of 15 who will be participating in the CAB league.
CAB had recently organized an onsite vaccination camp at the Eden Gardens where the first dose of vaccine was given to the players in the age group of 15 to 18 years.
The CAB is now making every effort to organize one more camp so that such players can take advantage of the second dose before the start of the league.
