“Everyone will be vaccinated. Don’t worry.”
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said the government is thinking whether children will need to be vaccinated in view of the third wave of COVID-19 and assured that everyone in the state will have their own pockets. .
He said that if necessary, the government would launch a vaccination program for children similar to the Pulse Polio campaign.
Ms Banerjee said 1.2 million people in Bengal got tested for COVID-19 on Tuesday and 75 per cent of the population in urban areas have been vaccinated.
“Everyone will be vaccinated. Don’t rush to vaccination centers hearing rumours and create panic unnecessarily. Don’t worry.”
Laying the foundation stone of Dhanseri Poly Films, he said, “Not a single dose (of vaccine) has been wasted in Bengal. We need 14 crores. It is our responsibility to administer the vaccines, but the Center is supplying them.” Plant here.
He said, “Keeping in view the third wave, we are now thinking whether the children will need vaccination or not. If necessary, the government will start an immunization program similar to the pulse polio drive.”
On Tuesday, 12,10,095 people were vaccinated in different districts of Bengal, taking the total number of people who received the dose to over 40 million.
Around 25 people, mostly women, were injured in a fight on Tuesday outside a vaccination center at Dhupguri in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district.
