West Ham United’s Angelo Ogbona faces long lay-off after knee injury

West Ham defender Angelo Ogbona has missed a crucial part of the season after suffering a serious knee injury in his team’s 3-2 win against Liverpool.

Sunday’s win moved Hammer to third in the Premier League table above Jurgen Klopp’s side, but an upbeat mood for the 33-year-old Italy international has been marred by an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

West Ham medical chief Richard Colling said: “After being replaced after an isolated incident that resulted in a cut above his eye, Angelo felt some discomfort in his right knee, so we called him the extent of the injury.” Scanned to find out.”

“That scan showed some damage to the anterior cruciate ligament and we started rehabilitating him immediately.

“Angelo will see another specialist this week and after that we will have a clearer picture around the timeline of his recovery.”
