A day after Tesla Inc boss Elon Musk disclosed a 9.2% stake in Twitter, Parag Agarwal, CEO of the microblogging platform, announced on Tuesday that the company was appointing the tech billionaire to its board.
Agarwal tweeted, “I am pleased to report that we are appointing @elonmusk to our board! Through conversations with Elon in recent weeks, it has become clear to us that he is on our board. will bring great value to you.”
“He’s both a passionate believer and a sharp critic of service, which is exactly what we need on @Twitter and the boardroom to make us stronger in the long run. Welcome Elon!” Mr Agarwal said in a follow-up tweet.

The Tesla chief responded within minutes.
“Look forward to working with Parag and the Twitter Board to make significant improvements to Twitter in the coming months!” Posted by Mr Musk.
Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey also joined the conversation.

Earlier today, Mr Musk started a Twitter poll asking users if they’d like an edit button. Most prominent among the many reactions to the poll was Twitter CEO Parag Agarwal. “The results of this election will be important. Please vote carefully,” he tweeted.
A prolific Twitter user, Mr. Musk has over 80 million followers since joining the site in 2009 and has used the platform to make several announcements.
Recently, he criticized the social media platform and its policies, saying that the company was undermining democracy by failing to adhere to free-speech principles.
