What is the fault of Pakistani army? General Faiz Hamid – contender for top post – takes retirement

Rawalpindi, Nov 26 (IANS) Former intelligence chief and current Bahawalpur Corps commander Lt Gen Faiz Hamid has decided to take early retirement. The media gave this information on Saturday.

The news of Lt Gen Hamid’s retirement comes a day after family sources had said that Pakistan Army Chief of General Staff Lt Gen Azhar Abbas had also sought early retirement.

Geo News reported that two army personnel were shortlisted from the six army officers nominated by the General Headquarters for the post of Army Chief.

Seeking early retirement, CGS Lt Gen Azhar Abbas has decided to bid farewell, his brother confirmed to Geo News on Friday.

“I confirm that Lt Gen Azhar Abbas has sought early retirement to maintain his grace, honor and dignity as a decorated officer of the Pakistan Army,” he said.

“Known for his professionalism, foresight and leadership, Lt Gen Azhar Abbas has decided to seek early retirement, which suits his personality,” said a trusted family source.

It is noteworthy that Lt Gen Hamid was the Director General of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence, while Imran Khan was the Prime Minister.
