What to do after a fight with a partner, experts share

No two persons are alike. Thus, conflicts are inevitable in relationships. Sometimes misunderstandings can lead to an entire argument. Depending on how you react afterward, a fight can either make or break your relationship. Even if the outcome of a fight is stressful, you shouldn’t act rude just because you were in a fight. In fact, if the situation is handled maturely, one can take advantage of the situation and work on improving their relationship. To help you get a clearer picture of how to behave in certain situations, Emily H. Sanders, family and marriage therapist, left a post on Instagram.

In his post the expert said, “This should be done after an argument and after the tension has subsided (when things are still not spicy.) The goal is to create security and understanding, and this will be challenging to do while things are right now.” Very hot too.
Share how you feel during the argument:

After the tension subsides, sit down and have a mature conversation. Instead of criticizing each other, share how you felt during the argument.

Validate each other’s experience:

Don’t be self-centred. Listen to the other person and try to understand their experience or point of view. “The goal is empathy.”

Share your triggers:

Tell each other about your triggers to build awareness and mindfulness as you move forward. Doing this will end the conflict.

Do your part in the struggle:

If you made a mistake, even if it was unintentional, own up to it and own up to it. To do otherwise can reveal more complications.
