WhatsApp reportedly rolling out new feature to add up to 32 contacts in group calls – Times of India

According to a new report, a screenshot of the app description has been shared by a tipster as the feature is rolling out to users in select countries. “Group calls now supports 32 participants and includes an updated interface with social audio layout, speaker highlights and waveforms,” ​​reads the screenshot.
Previously, the Meta-owned messaging platform allowed only eight participants in group calls in both Android and iOS. However, iOS users can now add up to four times more participants in a group call than is possible only in whatsapp groups,
WhatsApp has also updated how call participants will be displayed on the screen to fit the increased number of members. Individual WhatsApp users in a group call will be labeled using a waveform image. The report claims that this feature is now available for iOS with the new version update of 22.8.80 and its size is 109.7MB.
However, it is important to note that this feature is not available for desktop. This new feature can be useful for WhatsApp users as it is already available on Telegram.
In addition to the new 32 members in group call feature, the company recently announced that it will be releasing several new features which include Community Tabs, emoji reactions, improved voice message bubble design and notification scores for groups and contacts. Another improvement that helps users access their favorite media in the gallery has already been released in Brazil and will soon reach other regions.
The company is also testing a paid feature that will allow users to add multiple devices to a single account. Currently, WhatsApp does not allow users to link more than one smartphone to one account, however, users can link their accounts with a tablet, computer or laptop.
