New Delhi: Shortly before Tuesday afternoon, several WhatsApp users from India and several parts of the world reported problems sending or receiving messages on the platform. Platform started running later in the day many Outage hours.
WhatsApp’s parent company Meta Platforms had issued a brief statement on the outage saying that the company was trying to restore services.
A spokesperson for Meta Platforms said, “We are aware that some people are having problems sending messages and we are working to restore WhatsApp to everyone as soon as possible.”

According to downdetectorA platform that tracks outages, the problem was present around the world, with users in the US, parts of Europe, Canada and parts of Asia such as Malaysia, Japan and the Philippines reporting issues with WhatsApp.
DownDetector also noted that around 69 percent of people were experiencing outages and that more than 30,000 users from several parts of India reported that they were unable to access WhatsApp. About 25 percent of WhatsApp users also said that they have a server problem.
DownDetector typically reports incidents “when the number of problem reports significantly exceeds the typical amount for that time of day”, according to its website.
However, other social media platforms owned by Meta such as Instagram and Facebook are operating normally.
Soon after users reported about the WhatsApp outage, the hashtag #whatsappdown started trending on Twitter, garnering over 1.09 lakh tweets.
