Akhilesh Yadav had forged an alliance with Mayawati’s BSP before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
New Delhi:
Uttar Pradesh politician Mayawati today made several tweets of her rival-turned-rival Akhilesh Yadav to say that she wants him to be the prime minister. A person who cannot achieve his dream of becoming chief minister can hardly talk, he scoffed.
Akhilesh Yadav had said that his Samajwadi Party had forged an alliance with Mayawati’s BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as he wanted her to become the Prime Minister.
“When the Samajwadi Party chief could not fulfill his dream of becoming the Chief Minister of (Uttar Pradesh) even after securing votes of Muslims and Yadavs and tying up with many parties, how can he fulfill the dream of others to become the Prime Minister? Yes, Mayawati tweeted in Hindi.
The former chief minister also pointed out that the Samajwadi Party managed to win only five seats in Uttar Pradesh in the 2019 elections, despite forging an alliance with the BSP. He tweeted, “Even after alliance with BSP they could win only five seats, then how can they make BSP chief as PM? So they should stop making such childish statements.”
The Samajwadi Party and the BSP, which formed an alliance after decades of bitterness for the 2019 national election, ended their brief alliance after being defeated by the BJP in Uttar Pradesh. Since then, they often get into fights.
Mayawati had said on Thursday that she never aspired to become the President of India, but would become the Prime Minister or Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh to help Dalits.
“I have not lived my life comfortably and have struggled to work on the path shown by Babasaheb Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram to ensure that their followers and downtrodden stand on their feet. Everyone knows that this President It cannot be done by becoming the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh or the Prime Minister of the country.”
The remark was apparently in response to Akhilesh Yadav saying that the BSP had transferred its votes to the ruling BJP in the recent Uttar Pradesh election. He had said that it would be interesting to see whether the BJP has made Mayawati its president in return.
Mayawati today tweeted: “Whether I become Chief Minister or Prime Minister in future, I can never become the President of the country in the interest of weaker and marginalized sections. Therefore, SP’s dream of having its Chief Minister in the North will never be fulfilled. “
When asked about Mayawati’s remarks, Akhilesh Yadav told reporters on Thursday, “I am happy with the statement. I wanted the same. Last time (in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections) we had an alliance for it. Had it continued, the people of Bahujan Samaj, the BSP and those who followed the principles of BR Ambedkar would have seen who would become the prime minister.”
