The idea of celebrating World Oral Health Day was first proposed in 2007 and the day was celebrated for the first time on 12 September in the same year. It is the date of birth of Dr. Charles Godon, the founder of FDI. The campaign became active in 2013 and the date for celebrating World Oral Health Day was changed to 20 March.
