Prime Minister Narendra Modi has often highlighted the influence of his mother Heeraben in shaping his life as he rose from a humble family background to become the Prime Minister of India.
as HirabenWho passed away on Friday, entering her 100th year of life on June 18 this year, Modi wrote an emotional and deep tribute in what is perhaps the most detailed impression of his mother in the public domain.
In the blog, he highlighted his sacrifice and various aspects of his life that “shaped” his mind, personality and confidence.
Modi said his mother taught him a life lesson that one can learn something even without being formally educated.
He said in his blog, “My mother is as simple as she is extraordinary. Like all mothers.”
He said that his mother always inspired him to have a strong resolve and focus on “Garib Kalyan” (welfare of the poor), which is the theme of many welfare schemes of his government.
When he went to seek her blessings, as he was prepared to be sworn in as the chief minister of Gujarat in 2001, she told him, “I don’t know why you work in the government, but I just want you to Never take bribe.”
Modi said that once he wanted to publicly honor all his teachers, including his mother, who was his greatest teacher.
However, his mother refuses saying that he is a simpleton. Modi remembered him saying, “I may have given birth to you, but you have been taught and brought up by the Almighty.”
He said that though his mother did not attend the event, she made sure that she invited someone from the family of Jethabhai Joshi, their local teacher who taught him the alphabet.
“His thought process and visionary thinking has always amazed me,” Modi said.
Describing her mother as “the epitome of resilience”, she recalled the hardships she faced during her childhood after losing her mother at a very young age.
Modi said he does not even remember his mother’s face or the comfort of her lap as he spent his entire childhood without her.
The Prime Minister recalled that his family lived in a small mud house in Vadnagar with mud tiles for the roof. He also mentioned how many adversities his mother faced daily and successfully overcame them.
During the rainy season, the roof of the house used to leak and water used to fill the house. Mother used to put buckets and pots under the leakages to collect rain water. He said that even in this adverse situation, the mother would be a symbol of restraint.
He said that his mother not only does all the household work herself but also works to supplement the meager income of the household. Modi said she used to wash utensils in some houses and used to take out time to spin the charkha to meet the household expenses.

Whenever someone came to clean the drain adjacent to his house in Vadnagar, he used to say that his mother would not let him go without drinking tea.
Modi said that his mother finds happiness in the happiness of others and is very big-hearted.
He recalled that his father had brought home his close friend’s son Abbas after his untimely death. “He stayed with us and completed his studies. Mother was as loving and caring towards Abbas as she was for all of us siblings,” Modi said.
Modi had said, “In my mother’s life story, I see the austerity, sacrifice and contribution of India’s mother power. Whenever I see my mother and crores of women like her, I feel that Indian women have There is nothing that is impossible.”
