Who’s waiting? Odisha woman cooks rotis on car bonnet as heat wave prevails in the state

The summer season seems to have reached its peak, with the temperature rising up to 40°C every day. Even the cities which are usually cold during the summer months are experiencing a new kind of heat this year. Seeing such a high temperature, many people even joke that they can cook whole food outside in summer. We may laugh hearing this, but what if it turns out to be true? That would sound totally incredible, wouldn’t it? Well, it actually turned out to be true. Odisha woman seen making rotis on the bonnet of the car! Yes, you read that right.

In a video originally created by a local news channel in Odisha and uploaded to Twitter by @nilamadhabpanda, we can see a woman standing near a car. To make rotis, the woman has chakla, belan and wheat flour. As she stands in the scorching heat, the woman makes round rotis on the bonnet of the car. Once that process is done, she places the bread on the vehicle and bakes it! You can also see him flip the roti to cook it from the other side. Ever since the video was uploaded, it has garnered 60.9K views and many comments. Many people expressed their views and shared their experiences in the sun. One person said, “Yesterday I got burnt in my hand while riding my bike in the shade from the sun.” Another person said, “I think it is better to get a solar cooker, it is very easy to cook in minutes, no need to wait for hours to cook.” A few others also laughed at the video.

Lisipriya Kangujam, a climate activist from Manipur also reacted to the video and wrote, “Congratulations India! Finally, we can make roti on the bonnet of a car.”

However, there was one comment that definitely set it apart from the rest. A user replied to the video by showing how someone made dosa on a scooter seat! User @chittapanda shared a video of a man pouring dosa batter from a pot on the seat of a scooter. Then the man seen in the video waits for a while and turns to cook the dosa from the other side.
