Rahul Gandhi made these remarks while participating in the debate on the motion of thanks on the President’s address in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
The Congress strongly criticized the deletion of some of his comments on Wednesday Rahul Gandhi In Parliament, he targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and alleged that “the last rites of democracy were performed” in the Lok Sabha.
Gandhi made the remarks while participating in the debate on the motion of thanks to the President’s address in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
In a tweet, without mentioning why his remarks were pulled, Gandhi said, “Prime Minister, you cannot erase the voice of democracy.” Gandhi said, “The Indian people are asking you a direct question, you must answer.”
Later, on her way to Parliament during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi asked reporters, “Why were my words taken out?”
Congress general secretary in-charge of communications Jairam Ramesh said, “With the removal of Rahul Gandhi’s comment on the Adani mega mega scam involving the PM, the last rites of democracy have been performed in the Lok Sabha. Om Shanti.” In his remarks in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi had alleged that after the BJP came to power in 2014, there was a tremendous rise in Gautam Adani’s fortunes, from 609th to second in the global rich list.
The Congress leader’s remarks had drawn a sharp reaction from the ruling party, with Law Minister Kiren Rijiju asking him not to make “baseless allegations” and present evidence for his claims.
Outside Parliament, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad accused Gandhi of making baseless, shameless and reckless allegations and alleged that the Congress and the Gandhi family were involved in “big scams” that “maligned” the country’s image.
