Wife arrested, minor son arrested for killing man in West Delhi

A 45-year-old man was murdered by his 39-year-old wife and 17-year-old son in west Delhi’s Jwala Puri after an argument over unemployment and poor living standards, police said.

DCP (External) Sameer Sharma said that both used a hammer and a pair of scissors to hit the victim on Wednesday, following which the mother was arrested and her teenage son was apprehended the same day.

The police received a complaint at around 3 am that a person was lying on the road in an injured condition in Jwala Puri. The police who reached the spot saw that the victim was lying in a pool of blood. He had multiple injury marks on his chest and other parts of the body. The body was shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for postmortem and a case was registered under Indian Penal Code sections 302 for murder and 34 for common intention.

Police said the deceased, identified as Dinesh, worked at a shoe repair shop, and had frequent arguments with his 39-year-old wife Ritu over trivial issues and “poor living standards”. On continuous interrogation, the wife revealed that she had killed her husband with the help of her son. She also said that she was disappointed with Dinesh as he was unemployed. There was a scuffle on Tuesday.
