HYDERABAD: Two days after a mutilated body was found, the Ramagundam police on Monday busted the gruesome murder and arrested a hospital employee for the murder of her lover’s husband. Inspired by Telugu movies – Detective and Na Peru Siva, the accused chopped off the body parts of the victim and threw them at various places in Peddapalli district to prevent the police from tracking her.
The accused P Raju is a sweeper in a hospital in NTPC Ramagundam. According to Ramagundam Police Commissioner S Chandrasekhar Reddy, accused Raju was having an affair with his 31-year-old colleague from Khajipalli near NTPC. The husband of the victim colleague, 41-year-old K Shankar, was a local Meeseva worker.
Shankar’s mother had lodged a complaint with the police on November 26 that her son had gone missing on the night of November 25. On November 27, the police found the victim’s severed head and hand near Malayalpalli intersection near NTPC Cooling Towers. Shankar’s mother said that she suspected her daughter-in-law and her lover Raju’s involvement in the murder.
Police caught Raju in Ramagundam when he was trying to escape from Karimnagar town on his bike on Saturday. During interrogation, he confessed to killing Shankar. “Shankar used to harass his wife by doubting her loyalty. She discussed the harassment with Raju and they decided to eliminate Shankar,” said the police.
On the night of 25 November, Raju invites Shankar to his house to discuss about their differences. “Raju made Shankar drink liquor and killed him by hitting him on the head with a beer bottle. Then he divided the body into seven parts and threw them at different places like he had seen in some movies that it would prevent the police from arresting him,” the commissioner said.
Police on Sunday recovered the mutilated parts from Bugga Mandir Road, Saptagiri Colony and near Mediapalli graveyard and have arrested Shankar’s wife.
