It is a pivotal Monday for Prashant Kishor as election strategist who is credited with turning the political fortunes of many, the Congress awaits to decide whether it can prepare the Grand Old Party in the 2024 elections. would accept his offer. ,
Top Congress leaders, including members of the seven-member committee that submitted a report to Sonia Gandhi on Kishor’s proposal, have gathered at 10 Janpath, the official residence of the Congress chief. The committee is headed by former Union Minister P Chidambaram and senior leaders KC Venugopal, Mukul Wasnik, Ambika Soni, Jairam Ramesh, Digvijay Singh and Randeep Singh Surjewala.
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and senior leader AK Antony have also reached 10 Janpath.
Earlier, Kishor held three meetings with the Congress leadership, during which he discussed at length his plans to revive the party, which has been mired in electoral debacle, infighting and a BJP bastion.
While the Congress is contemplating bringing Kishor on the board, a section of veterans is thinking twice about his entry, as he has affiliations with several political outfits against the Congress.
To add fuel to the fire, Kishor’s two-day stay with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and a contract with Telangana Rashtra Samithi’s I-PAC for the 2023 state elections has left the leaders fuming.
Although Kishor has officially ended his association with the IPAC, he is reportedly aware of all the decisions of the organization that he led earlier.
Rao’s party is in direct contest with the Congress in the Telangana Assembly elections and hence, the special committee set up to study Kishor’s roadmap wants him to end his ties with other political parties.
Even the dissident group in the party, known as G23, is not very impressed with Kishor’s joining as he says that the leadership is ignoring and ignoring the inner talent and relying on someone who can. who is not loyal to the party and is a professional advisor. He says Kishor, popularly known as PK in political circles, is saying that the group has raised the Congress leadership in his letter to Sonia Gandhi and subsequent meetings.
Meanwhile, Kishor wants the Congress to forge an alliance with regional satraps like Mamata Banerjee and KCR in West Bengal. Sources have told CNN-News18 that the strategist has asked the party to target 370-400 seats for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
