Speculation is rife about former Goa CM Digambar Kamat’s resignation from the party after his ouster from the Congress Working Committee (CWC).

Earlier in the day, the senior Congress leader was removed from his post as a permanent invitee to the Congress Working Committee (CWC) by Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

A letter signed by Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal was released on Sunday evening. The Congress had earlier accused Kamat of colluding with the BJP for position and power and conspiring to split the Goa Congress with Michael Lobo.

Sources in political circles said senior leaders may resign after the development.

Digambar Kamat had earlier clarified his position saying that he had many opportunities to move the party in the past but remained loyal even at a time when there was no one to stand by the party in Goa.
