The ruling TRS on Tuesday targeted the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi On his remarks on former national ambitions, senior party leader KT Rama Rao pointed to the defeat of the Gandhi-dynasty in Amethi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
The Congress hit back at the TRS saying, “We know that here in Hyderabad sits the Eighth Nizam.” TRS working president and IT minister Rama Rao said Rahul Gandhi, who lost the Amethi Lok Sabha seat in 2019, does not have the stature to criticize the national party’s ambitions of Telangana Chief Minister and his father K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).
“International leader Rahul Gandhi who cannot even win his Parliament seat in Amethi ridicules the national party ambitions of Telangana CM KCR ji. Want the PM to first persuade his people to elect him (from Amethi) as MP,” tweeted KTR.
Rahul contested from both Amethi (UP) and Wayanad in Kerala in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and has since won.
The former Congress chief, who is leading the party’s India Jodi Yatra, on Monday took a jibe at KCR and said the Telangana chief minister is welcome even thinking that he is running an international party which is contesting elections in the US or China.
Responding to KTR’s criticism, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said there was nothing wrong with Rahul’s comments on KCR’s national ambitions.
Replying to a question on the subject at a press conference here, Ramesh said that as per Gandhi’s views, KCR’s party can also become “GRS” (Global Nation Committee) and Congress has nothing to do with it. .
Ramesh further said that KCR can do whatever he wants to do. India Is a democratic country.
“The Congress party is not a Nizam Shahi party. We know that here in Hyderabad sits the Eighth Nizam,” the Congress leader said in an apparent reference to KCR.
He alleged that some TRS leaders were involved in the 2007 passport scam.
