Windows 11 users facing this problem after updating their PC – Times of India

Microsoft started rolling out windows 11 On October 5th more users started reporting bugs in the new operating system. According to a Reddit thread, the update is suffering from memory leak issues due to a bug in File Explorer. When the computer allocates too much RAM for a program and then does not release the unused cache memory, it is called a memory leak. The bug was first noticed by Reddit user Gyrohan269 two months ago on the beta version windows 11. Now that post is slowly gaining attention as other users who are facing similar problems after installing the new operating system are sharing their experiences.
“Whenever you open windows explorer and close it, the RAM it uses increases by a few MB when you close it. For example: When I turn on my PC, Windows Explorer uses 60MB, and then when I open a random folder, it jumps to 80, and when I close that same window, it only drops to 70MB, not 60. And when I open and close a folder multiple times, it reaches 1GB!!” Gyrohan269 wrote in a Reddit post.
According to the user, the RAM allocation keeps increasing until you restart File Explorer using Task Manager or restart the machine completely. If you want to check the RAM allocation for the program you are using, you can go to Task Manager. Although the bug has been reported on the Microsoft Feedback Hub, the company is yet to acknowledge the issue.
Windows 11 is the successor Windows 10, which was launched in 2015, and is built on the same platform. To check if you have received the update, you can go to Settings > Windows Update. If your device hasn’t received the update yet, you can still install it through the Windows 11 software download page.
