The number of active cases of COVID in India has crossed 1.32 lakh (1,32,457). Active cases now account for 0.30% of the total positive cases in the country.
The weekly positivity rate in the country is currently 4.26% and the daily positivity rate is reported to be 3.68%.
45 people died due to viral infection The death toll in the country has risen to 5,25,519 in the last 24 hours.
In the death of 45 new people, 17 from Kerala, 13 are included. MaharashtraFive from West Bengal, two from Gujarat and one each from Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Odisha, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
Delhi recorded over 400 new cases in the last 24 hours, while the positivity rate in the city stood at around 3%.
Maharashtra sees 2,435 fresh COVID cases. Of these, Mumbai – which has recorded a 79% increase in daily cases – accounted for 420 infections.
West Bengal recorded over 2,600 new COVID cases in the last 24 hours. Over 2,200 cases were reported from Tamil Nadu, 562 from Telangana, 577 from Gujarat and 116 from Madhya Pradesh
India’s recovery rate is 98.49%. 15,447 patients have been cured in the last 24 hours and the total number of cured patients (since the start of the pandemic) now stands at 4,30,11,874.
A total of 4,59,302 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. India has conducted 86.77 crore (86,77,69,574) cumulative tests so far.
India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has crossed ₹199.12 crore (1,99,12,79,010) as of 7 am today, as per provisional reports. This has been achieved through 2,61,58,303 sessions.
The COVID-19 vaccination for the age group of 12-14 years was started on March 16, 2022. So far, more than 3.76 crore (3,76,28,293) adolescents have been given the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dosage administration for the age group of 18-59 years also started from April 10, 2022.
Meanwhile, more than 193.53 crore (1,93,53,58,865) vaccine doses have been provided to the States/UTs so far through the Government of India (free channel) and the Direct State Procurement category.
Around 10 crore (9,99,18,330) remaining and untapped COVID vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.
Nationwide COVID-19 vaccination started on 16 January 2021. The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination began on 21 June 2021. Immunization drive has been intensified through availability of more vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to States and UTs. For them to better plan and streamline the vaccine supply chain.
As part of the nationwide vaccination campaign, the Government of India is supporting States and Union Territories by providing them with free COVID vaccines. In the new phase of Universalization of COVID19 Vaccination Campaign, the Central Government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75% of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to the States and UTs.
