Woman fired for not allowing man to talk about herself; Twitterati rain support

New Delhi: Janneke Parish, a woman who was recently fired by her company over her alleged ‘incredibly rude’ behaviour, posted about her ordeal on microblogging platform Twitter. She said in a series of tweets that her employer let her go when she asked a male co-worker to stop interrupting her while addressing a meeting.

“I lost my job because I talked to a man the way men talk to me,” she said in her first tweet in a series of tweets, adding, “This is why women leave the tech industry. ” (Also Read: Instacart’s Indian Origin Founder Apoorva Mehta Resigns From Online Grocery Delivery Company)

In the following tweet, she explained why her company fired her for doing nothing wrong, of course. “A few weeks ago, a male colleague made changes to a project I was running while I was offline, which dramatically affected the scope and timelines. I asked him to speak to him to understand why and how we can establish a way to resolve the issues in future,” she said. (Also Read: 4 Cooperative Banks Face RBI Restrictions! “During the meeting, he kept interrupting me and biting me. I wasn’t going anywhere, so I just started talking, politely telling him to “please let me finish” every time he tries to jump. I made my point, then let him do the talking,” Parish added in his tweet.

Explaining how she was called by HR, she said, “On Monday, I was called into a meeting with HR, where I was told that I was incredibly rude, that my communication skills were very poor, and I was being fired.”

“I got fired because I wouldn’t let a man talk to me. That’s what it’s like to be a woman in the tech industry. It’s cruel and it’s toxic, and it’s where your gender determines your destiny.” Before you get any chance,” she said.

Several other women on Twitter shared similar experiences. “It’s very infuriating. I’ve had similar experiences in the gaming industry, so now I’m running my own company and developing games aimed at women/women. Guess that makes me a tech separatist . I like to think that they don’t deserve me, ”said one of the Twitter users.

“When my mom was alive she had a similar issue after spending months setting up a database for a company they let her know how I showed her how to wipe my entire server and all backups of said database Granted, so he installed it on his last day. So that’s when they arrived without any system to work,” said another user.
