In a video message, the scion of the royal family said that the constitutional demand for ‘Greater Tripraland’ should be given in writing if any party is ready to forge an alliance for the Tripura elections.
TIPRA Motha will announce its list of candidates in the next two to three days for the February 16 Tripura Assembly elections, the organization’s president and royal scion Pradyot Kishor Manikya Debbarman said on Monday.
In a video message posted on social media, he said that if any party is willing to form an alliance, the constitutional demand for “Greater Tipraland” should be given in writing. He said that there will be no compromise in this.
“The Tiprasa (indigenous people) are landless today. The constitutional rights of ‘Greater Tipraland’ are needed for the development of Tipras. And TIPRA is fighting for it,” he said.
“Various political parties may have lots of money as tools. But Tiprasa has trust on Pradyot Kishor Manikya Debbarman. So Pradyot informs that he cannot destroy their trust. No one is ready to compromise and if any party wants to form an alliance, the issue of accepting constitutional rights should be brought out in writing.
He also tried to clear his stand on whether his organization would forge an alliance with the ruling BJP or not.
He said, ‘Many people called me and I am sad to say that many people from my own party have said that ‘we are getting something, so go for an alliance’. I will not chide those Tipra Motha members who are living in villages, who are underprivileged, for that ‘Kuch to mil raha hai’. I haven’t come for that ‘Kuch to milega’ after 70 years. We want constitutional protection and solution. We are landless and if we have to protect our land we need constitutional protection and I am fighting for that.
He also said that party workers and leaders who want to go on to become MLAs should be ashamed. “This fight is the fight of 13 lakh Tipras of the state. This fight is for generations to come,” said Pradyot.
He said that he will fight this battle alone and whoever wants to compromise can go.
According to sources, a closed-door meeting was called between TIPRA Motha along with BJP-led NDA partner Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) working president and cabinet ministers Prem Kumar Reang and Pradyot Kishor at a hotel in Guwahati on Saturday. Was. President Bijoy Kumar Harangkhal and senior leader Jagdish Debbarma.
Earlier, Pradyot said that both the parties were fighting for the same demand for a “constitutional solution for the indigenous people”.
